FPSG understands User Research and are expertly positioned to help you get access to the most exciting Projects across the country, no matter what stage of the experience level you are at. From our bases in Scotland we have established an enviable track record of providing User Researchers with opportunities to work on various key Projects we help deliver for our Public Sector Clients in Scotland and across the wider UK. We are always looking for more User Researchers, from Junior through to Senior level to join us, to plan, design and carry out research activities with users that help teams get a deep understanding of the people that use government services in particular. User research informs policy, proposition, service, content and interaction design so that services work well for users and achieve their policy intent. We want you to be part of that as we grow the Teams to meet our Client needs. Work will continue to be carried out remotely for now, with Central Scotland offices available if needs be in future.

A User Researcher is embedded in a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for planning and carrying out user research activities. They are able to work independently on a team:

  • Executing a range of field and lab based user research types according to business and project needs.

  • Managing User Research tools and facilities.

  • Facilitating the inclusion of different types of users in appropriate research activities.

  • Advocating for accessibility, assisted digital, and inclusive design practices and help teams design and deliver accessible services that work for all users.

  • Supporting teams to continually improve their understanding of and engagement with users.

  • Providing actionable insights to support design decision making and write user needs and user stories.

  • Managing ethics and consent processes, and support the development of privacy and equalities impact assessments.

Additional Duties:

  • Participating in and/or supporting programme and project assurance activities

  • Other duties as required by the Client to support wider corporate activities
