Test Manager - Non-Functional Testing & Release (Contract)
FPSG's Client have an initial 3 month day-rate contract requirement in Edinburgh for a hands-on Test Manager to primarily focus on Non-Functional testing and also plan and over-see Testing of Releases according to the Release deployment schedule.
Within the role as Test Manager you will have access to a small number of Test engineers from the current Test practice pool. Responsibilities will include the following:
Liaise with stakeholders to create a risk-based non-functional test plan (aligned to the programme test strategy), for each service Release, and identify resources require.
Provide recommendations on appropriate NFT tooling.
Oversee the Test prep and execution of all NFT across the programme.
Liaise with stakeholders to create a release Test plan and schedule for each release (will include elements from multiple services).
Manage Test prep and Test execution of Release Testing.
Report progress, risks, issues and dependencies, escalating as appropriate.
Some deliverables are to be delivered within the Sprint cycles, which will operate on a two-week cycle up to and beyond the go live date. Others will take place out of sprint as part of integration and wider Release Testing.
Experience of managing non-functional testing (performance, resilience, compatibility, accessibility).
Hands on experience of Performance test load generation tools, including JMeter, and application monitoring tools.
Hands on experience with performance problem determination and root cause analysis.
Experience tuning highly scalable applications, including reviewing configurations around cache sizes and heap sizes.
Experience interpreting and analysing real user monitoring statistics.
Experienced in load forecasting for peak times, and assessing resilience of systems as well as making recommendations on how to improve based on business needs.
Hands on experience analysing log files to make performance enhancement recommendations.
Expertise in front end page load analysis and profiling and optimisation.
Very good backend testing skills - conversant in databases (DB2), SQL knowledge, creation of test data.
Java expertise including profiling, ability to review java source code and recommend optimisations.
Experience of AWS, IBM WebSphere, REST APIs.
Experience of accessibility testing using assistive technologies.
Experience of managing system integration testing of large releases with multiple interfaces (internal and external).
Experience of configuration management tools such as GIT.
Excellent interpersonal skills in English and a proven ability to collaborate with all stakeholders.
