Senior Procurement Manager -IT


Our client is a department of a further educational institution based in Oxford with a worldwide reputation for excellence in Research, Scholarship, and education by publishing They are now seeking to recruit a dynamic and results-driven Senior Procurement Manager (Technology) to join the Group Procurement team to design and deliver the global technology procurement strategy and delivery of the procurement portfolio/pipeline and associated targets across sourcing and supplier management.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leadership of the technology procurement team.

  • Design and deliver the technology procurement strategy and annual plans

  • Ensuring the timely delivery of specific procurement projects which achieve targeted savings and minimise supply risk

  • Strategic supplier relationship management of key Technology suppliers

  • Ability to lead negotiations with sophisticated Technology suppliers or service providers

  • Involving key stakeholders early and translates their business needs to deliver commercial solutions

  • Leading the identification, development and performance management of suppliers to deliver the business need

  • Identifying efficiency opportunities and implementing associated improvements using value engineering approaches

  • Applying new policy and process changes within the procurement operating environment

  • Developing project plans and prioritising delivery of a number of simultaneous strategic sourcing requirements

  • Producing and maintaining central procurement documentation on behalf of the internal stakeholders (e.g. sourcing cycle process, supplier and benefits management validation)

  • Building and maintaining strong internal and external relationships at senior and executive management levels.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Educated to degree level

  • Minimum CIPS Advanced Diploma (Level 5) required, MCIPS Professional Diploma Level (Level 6) preferred

  • Conversant and experienced in the application of modern category management tools and techniques, with an ability to develop category strategies to meet stakeholder needs preferably in IT Category Management

  • Commercial acumen with proficient negotiation skills, with confidence and ability to lead complex commercial negotiations and achieve results

  • Demonstrates integrity and professionalism and is viewed by internal and external stakeholders as credible and trustworthy

  • Self-motivated, results driven, proactive and highly accountable

  • Proven team player but can also be relied to work on their own initiative

  • Confidently and comfortably operates at a strategic and operational level

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and a high level of presentation skills.

  • Strong and proven interpersonal and organisational skills with ability to handle multiple projects in a challenging and dynamic environment.

  • Proven track record of meeting cost savings across various categories.
