Introduction

FPSG are a proud partner into some of the highest profile Projects within the Public Sector in Scotland. As part of continued growth, we are now looking to engage with Interaction Designers for an exciting new part of the on-going programme of work. The role will have flexibility to work remotely at this time and also afford a base from either Edinburgh or Glasgow, with travel between each site when required. It may be useful if you have previous Public Sector experience, particularly in Scotland, however, this is not mandatory.

Role Responsibilities & Person Specification

Interaction Designer

The Interaction Designer vacancy sits within the Interaction Design team who work with our Client's delivery teams to ensure the end users can interact with our services designed to make processes more accessible for them.

As an Interaction Designer you will be able to work out the best way to let users interact with services, in terms of both overall flow and at the level of individual design elements.

An Interaction Designer chosen for this piece of on-going work will quite probably describe themselves as a confident and competent Designer who is able to develop designs based on evidence of user needs and organisational outcomes. You will be confident in your ability to make good decisions and will recognise when to ask for further guidance and support, all of which will be forthcoming when appropriate.

You will contribute to the development of design concepts and should be able to interpret evidence-based research and incorporate this into your work.

Main duties will include:

Designing and validating a range of static and dynamic prototypes.

Identifying, proposing and evaluating design solutions to meet the needs of users across a variety of channels.

Making use of and contributing to the Client's service design patterns.

Sharing best practice.

Understanding constraints and communicating these and working within them.

Ensuring standards are being met, particularly for accessible and inclusive design.

Additional Duties of this Role

Participating in and/or supporting programme and project assurance activities.

Contribute to the wider community such as by participating in events and reviewing processes, tools and guidance.

Other duties as required by the Client to support wider corporate activities.

Additional Criteria for this Role

Experience of selecting and using appropriate design tools and methods to collaboratively explore service opportunities and problems, and reduce unnecessary complexity.

Experience of translating user needs into design concepts and prototypes.

Ability to communicate design solutions and different design directions effectively.

Knowledge of other user centred design practices.

In return you will be rewarded you with a permanent, or pro-rated (likely 6 month initial) FTC salary and package commensurate with your experience. A bonus and reward model will also be in place which is exciting and will be related to performance and achievements.
