Infrastructure Engineer

£30000 - £38000 per annum + Benefits/Flexible Working Hours

FPSG's is currently seeking an Infrastructure Engineer operating at 2nd/3rd Line for our client based in Hamilton, joining a small Infrastructure team you will be reporting directly to the Infrastructure Manager. With exposure to a broad range of ICT Infrastructure whilst working in a dynamic environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an already experienced 2nd/3rd Line Engineer, taking on the primary responsibility for service delivery but also representing the team and taking ownership of infrastructure related tasks.

Role Responsibilities

  • Liaising with 3rd Parties and Local Authorities including in areas relating to service provision / maintenance & support contracts.

  • Ensuring that the organisation meets or exceeds published KPI's for performance and service availability.

  • Providing effective contributions as part of team workload planning, escalating any risks / issues to line management.

  • Creation of virtual machine builds (windows and Linux) to agreed build levels / standards.

  • Monitoring and responding to Infrastructure related Helpdesk calls, acting to ensure that calls are managed within agreed SLA's.

To be a successful Infrastructure Engineer you will:

  • Excellent network configuration and fault resolution abilities.

  • CISCO Nexus switch 7000 series maintenance and configuration

  • Minimum 2 years (ideally longer!) working at 3rd line infrastructure support level within a Medium to Large Enterprise organization.

  • Hands on experience working with Windows Server 2008/2012 R2, Microsoft Hyper-V and Cisco R&S.

  • Experience of working within and having administrative control (including authority) for a diverse network, where redundancy of components to provide a resilient solution are implemented e.g. Etherchannel configuration for interlinks between routing and switching components.

  • Be able to think outside the box, approach problems with a fresh perspective and continually strive to stay creative.

  • Experience of designing, monitoring and troubleshooting networks with > 10 VLAN's.

  • Solid organizational skills are a must, along with the ability to prioritise a work load.
