FPSG's exclusive client are a department of a further educational institution based in Oxford with a worldwide reputation for excellence in Research, Scholarship and education by publishing worldwide.

They are now seeking to recruit a dynamic and results driven Head of Procurement - Direct to join the Group Procurement team to drive forward all global procurement activity within the Direct portfolio This role is accountable for all global procurement activity within Direct Procurement, which covers Print, Paper, and Bind, and Content Creation. This includes management of global suppliers chosen for this category area and management of the overall strategy and direction of Direct sourcing for our client, including preferred local suppliers supporting the publishing divisions.

Role Responsibilities

  • Accountable for global category performance.

  • Functional lead for Direct procurement, accountable for building key relationships with Divisions and Group Functions.

  • Development of procurement strategies and negotiation of global master agreements and terms for regional/local agreements.

  • Recognised as leader in the category with detailed market knowledge of Print, Paper and Bind, and Content Creation.

  • Drives innovation and value engineering within category, across category management, supplier management, sourcing, geographic optimization, and usage control.

  • Responsible for driving/operating category management (strategic sourcing) process within their spend category.

  • Responsible for ensuring policies, processes and guidelines are complied with for their spend category and vendor base

  • Responsible for driving a strategic Supplier Relationship Management approach across the category, delivering the right environment for mutual success, and creating a true partnership approach

You will have:-

  • Strong strategic procurement track record within the Direct Category

  • Knowledge and experience of best-in-class measures and approach for direct materials.

  • Strong People Management track record, including experience of managing internationally.

  • Deep subject knowledge of Print, Paper, and Bind, and Content Creation categories.

  • MCIPS (or equivalent) accredited or studying towards qualification. Skills and Behaviours

  • Specialist expertise in the areas of PPB and Content Creation.

  • Highly developed stakeholder management skills, both internal and external.

  • Fully conversant with the theory and application of modern procurement techniques and tools.

  • Able to arbitrate between different Divisional priorities, and able to drive the clients Group Procurement's agenda, working closely with partners.

  • Analytical approach commercially astute, customer focussed and an excellent communicator
