Accounts / Finance Assistant

FPSG are working in partnership with a global organisation who are looking to recruit an Accounts /Finance Assistant to work within a highly successful team located in the Scottish Borders.

This is a full time, permanent opportunity working Monday to Friday between 8.30-5pm or 9-5.30pm - flexibility is offered around this.

Your key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Working within a fast paced environment you will report to the Accounts Supervisor and be responsible for all aspects of accounts processing and control, whilst also assisting other areas of the Finance team
  • Credit Control and transactional tasks
  • Adding purchase invoices
  • Ensure invoices are coded accurately and spend matrix adhered to
  • Match invoices to correct delivery notes/purchase orders
  • Statement reconciliations
  • Payment runs - BACS, multi-currency bank accounts
  • Process bank payments and journals
  • Resolving supplier queries efficiently - dealing with internal and external parties
  • Company Expenses claims
  • Daily postings to the Nominal Ledger bank accounts
  • Bank accounts reconciled daily to the Nominal Ledger
  • Process payment runs including BACs and manual, using business software including periodic payments to external agencies eg HMRC
  • Control Petty cash accounts
  • Produce periodic cash reports
  • Maintain the monthly salaries including tax codes, salary levels, commissions, P45/P46 forms etc.
  • Process monthly payroll including wage, salary, deductions and financial postings *
  • Prepare and submit government returns - PAYE/NIC/Pensions/Etc
  • Monitor any retail revenue discrepancies
  • Preparation of month end journals

To be considered for this opportunity, our client does require the following background/experience:

  • Previous background working within an Accounts / Finance team
  • Generic accounting experience
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle a variety of tasks whilst working towards tight deadlines
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Keen interest to develop your career within a finance role
  • Highly motivated, hardworking and disciplined
