8-13 October marks Libraries week, a celebration of our nation’s libraries. This year libraries are focusing upon well being and how they can bring communities together, providing space for reading and friendship through group activities and creative clubs.
With busy lives in the office and at home, we were delighted to hear how well our libraries are used within the FPSG team. We have our children visiting regularly for books, DVDs and comics, groups such as Bounce & Rhyme, Toddlers Tales and services such as photocopying and computing and accompanying grannies to renew their books. Favourites include Langside Library, the last of the Carnegie Libraries to be built in Glasgow and Stockbridge in Edinburgh where services include a drop in space for parent and carers with their babies and toddlers.

Our interest in all things libraries has been enhanced by our relationship with the Scottish Library & Information Council (SLIC). This relationship has been in place for several years and has gone from strength to strength. With the recent placement of their Head of Projects, we are looking forward to supporting them with lots of exciting future projects – watch this space!
